Robert Chastain
Deacon
My wife, Sonia, deserves the credit for my becoming a believer. We attended church with our 4 children, but Navy life never left us in one place long enough to really get involved in church service. Finally, at age 33, I was baptized in a Presbyterian church in California, Maryland, in 1963.
In 1969, we were transferred to the San Diego area and joined Chula Vista Presbyterian Church, where I was ordained in about 1970. I served there until we moved again in 1983. While in Florida, I served a church for 6 years when a PCA church plant started nearby. We joined, and I served as a Deacon for 17 years.
I have been a Deacon at RGOPC since it became a particular church in 2018.
The most valued aspect of this office is that God has allowed me to be able to help and serve so many for so long. It’s been an honor to serve God’s people.
Since my wife passed away in 2020, I’m not passionate about anything, but I am blessed to have 3 of our children nearby. When I was younger, I was a volunteer for 16 years for Habitat for Humanity. And there’s always Pickleball!
